A joint venture composed of Sogea-Satom and ETF (Eurovia) is working on the project to partially double-track the railway line between Kamsar and Sangarédi, in the west of the country.
Sogea-Satom teams are currently engaged in the earthworks; ETF teams will be starting in March 2018 on the railway works and the laying of 37 km of track on new sections. As part of this project, rail welding training courses have been organised in France for Chemins de Fer de Boké (CFB), the railway operating company.
Improving this infrastructure will enable the mine operators to export an additional 24 million tonnes of bauxite a year via this corridor, total capacity having been raised to 40 million tonnes a year.
Launched in October 2017, the works will take 18 months.
Contract value: €20.3m.
