Sogea-Satom has just been awarded the irrigation development project in Mwea, in the east of the country, by the National Irrigation Board.
The objective of the Mwea Irrigation Development Project is to double annual production on the 7,200 hectares of existing rice fields. The area comprises over 45 km of concrete channels and drains, 12 km of access routes and 2,100 sq. metres of farm buildings.
The works should start in November 2016, and will take 38 months.
Contract value: €31m.
